Selina Narovlansky

Over the last two decades Lina developed an original technique of painting on fabric. It's a unique process that combines painting with monotype printing to produce striking colors and patterns, and opens new possibilities when painting on silk. As part of this process, she designs her own color schemas, often getting unexpected results. The fabric generated by this technique can evoke the feeling of being in a landscape or seascape and informs both her wall compositions and her clothes designs. The Purity and Transparency of the air, the Depth of the sky, the chaos of the ocean: the coexistence of all these ideas is her inspiration. Lina's paintings are indirect rapport with modern abstract art, while superimposed on the centuries-oldtradition of painting on silk. Narovlansky's aligned technique of painting on waxedrice paper is often inspired by the images of the larger areas of earth viewed fromabove. Both techniques are spontaneous and allow her wide latitude to experimentwith color.
